After two weeks of intensive theory in a hybrid format, the Causality Training cohort came together on-site in Valencia for an immersive Focus Week — where ideas took shape through collaborative, hands-on work.
🎯 Thematic Focus:
Invariant learning for robust agricultural yield predictions
Drought effects and their causal links to wildfires
🌍 Participants explored key concepts in causality for Earth Observation, including:
– Causal inference techniques
– Methods for robust and generalizable predictions
– Causal discovery approaches
During the focus week (April 7–11), two dedicated project groups worked intensively on real-world case studies, applying theory to practice. The workshop was led by UVEG collegues Vasileios Sitokonstantinou, Emiliano Díaz Salas-Porras, and Gherardo Varando, providing expert guidance and support throughout.
